I remember nothing about this but strongly suspect it should never have happened. Judging from the photo on the programme it was referencing the film rather than the book, which everyone knows where nothing like each other. Georgia May Foote made her theatrical debut in this, which feels quite amazing. I have an feeling that Anna Friel did it in the West End first but I'm too scared to Google it in case it makes me cross.

Chicago

The third appearance of this on here and definitely not the last - I've got a ticket to see it again in 2025. I don't recognise either of the leads so I expect the draw was the show itself and John Partridge, who I've seen in a surprising amount of things, and Jessie Wallace who hasn't done much theatre since this.

Jerry Springer - the Opera

Jerry Springer - the Opera, Norwich Theatre Royal, 2006.

Cast: Rolf Saxon, Dean Hussain, Valda Aviks, Carrie Ellis, Nathan Harmer, Trevor Jary, Benjamin Lake, Wills Morgan, Johan Pearson, Helen Walsh, Annabelle Williams, Simon Adkins, Rachel Bingham, Kieron Crook, Charles Doherty, Katherine Glasson, Brian McCann, David O'Dell, Katherine O'Shea, Gina Respall, Jennifer Tierney.

Music: Richard Thomas
Book & lyrics: Stewart Lee & Richard Thomas
Director: Stewart Lee

This was a really big deal when it was on at the National Theatre and I think it was even on TV before it toured. Now I remember nothing about it. The programme insists it's an opera but in my head I assumed it was a musical. I wonder if the world has got so much worse since this was written that it's been rather left behind.
